As the City of Seven Hills, Lisbon houses an impressive amount of rooftop bars and viewpoints or miradouros. Add these 10 unique spots to your Lisbon itinerary for stunning city views and the best spots to enjoy sunset drinks.
Rooftop Bar at Hotel Mundial
Located in Lisbon’s lower heart, the Rooftop Bar at Hotel Mundial is surrounded by the city’s seven hills. At the same time, it looks out over Baixa’s elegant streets and the waterfront. Summer afternoons come with a DJ set and impressive sunset views. Our Lisbon rooftop tip: order a bottle of crisp Portuguese white or green wine for sunny rooftop afternoons without breaking the bank.

Miradouro São Pedro de Alcântara
One of Lisbon’s most iconic viewpoints, the Miradouro São Pedro de Alcântara connects a viewing platform to a landscaped garden one level below. It is located in the elevated Chiado neighborhood, between Baixa and Bairro Alto. You can reach the miradouro by taking the historic Santa Justa Lift (also included on this list) or a short but steep walk up.

Top Experiences in Lisbon
Entretanto Rooftop Bar
This rooftop bar is located on top of Hotel Chiado, but freely accessible to non-guests. You get beautiful views of most of the city and the Tagus from the spacious terrace. It doesn’t get as busy as many other rooftop bars, making it a great quiet spot to enjoy afternoon drinks and bites while watching golden hour.

Miradouro da Graça
As one of the highest points in the city, Miradouro da Graça is visible from almost anywhere in Lisbon. The viewpoint is located along the route of the emblematic tram 28. Ride the tram from west to east to beat some of the crowds and save yourself a walk uphill, getting off at the highest point Graça. From the miradouro, you can access the park Jardim da Cerca da Graça for more panoramic views.

Miradouro do Portas do Sol
Largo Portas do Sol is a large open square about halfway on the route of tram 28. It looks out over the beautiful Alfama neighborhood and Lisbon’s waterfront. The views are best enjoyed with a coffee or beer from the traditional kiosk on the square. Alternatively, you can have a scenic meal at SOL Restaurante e Jardim.

Memmo Alfama Rooftop Terrace
My favorite rooftop in Lisbon is tucked away on top of the Memmo Alfama Hotel, part of a boutique Portuguese hotel chain. The rooftop terrace is small and elegant, surrounded by views of Lisbon’s iconic Alfama neighborhood and the waterfront. It is a perfect spot to enjoy pre-dinner drinks, with an extensive Portuguese wine menu.

Miradouro de Santa Luzia
It is easy to miss this beautiful miradouro right next to the Largo Portas do Sol square. The observation deck is just as charming as the views: it is tiled with azulejos and a pergola covered in bougainvillea during the summer months. A staircase in the corner leads to a small rooftop bar, Bar Terraço de Santa Luzia. Most of the tables have no shade, so hot summer days are better avoided at this hidden gem.

Silk Rooftop
For an elegant sunset dinner, Silk Rooftop is the place to be. This rooftop restaurant and lounge serves an Asian-inspired menu with sushi and an extensive cocktails list. You can enjoy panoramic views of Lisbon from the restaurant with floor-to-ceiling windows, or from a small outside rooftop lounge. The menu seems to be undergoing some changes, so keep an eye on the website and reviews before reserving a table.

Food Experiences in Lisbon
Castelo de São Jorge
Castelo de São Jorge is visible from every viewpoint and rooftop in Lisbon. The castle was built during the Moorish occupation, but the highest hill in Lisbon was being used as an outpost for centuries before that. It is a short climb from Alfama’s central Largo Portas do Sol square to reach the castle entrance. You can walk along the fortress’ walls to eleven towers and get expansive views of the city.

Santa Justa Lift
The Santa Justa Lift connects Baixa with the elevated Chiado district. The lift is no doubt one of the most unique elevators in the world, made of wrought iron and adorned with beautiful details. It has been in operation for over a 100 years, but is temporarily closed throughout 2026. From the observation deck at the top, you get great views of Rossio Square and Baixa below. The lines to ride the lift can get very long, but usually die down around lunch and dinner time.
